C. Legal requirements
The legal requirements are derived from the Barrier-Free Accessibility Act (BFSG), in particular from Sections 3 and 14 BFSG and Annex 3 to the BFSG, with reference to the Ordinance on the Barrier-Free Accessibility Act (BFSGV). According to this, services for people with disabilities must be findable, accessible and usable in the usual manner, without particular difficulty and, in principle, without external assistance. This means:
- Information on the accessibility of the service must be provided and identification, authentication, security and payment functions must be accessible.
- In the case of a visual form of operation, a form of operation must be set up that enables use in the absence of or with limited vision and does not require colour discrimination.
- In the case of an auditory form of operation, a form of operation must be set up that enables use in the absence of or with limited hearing.
- In the case of a form of operation using voice input, a form of operation must be set up that does not require voice input.
- For manual operation, a mode of operation must be set up that does not require fine motor control or operation, and the controls must be within reach of the user.
- Modes of operation that trigger photosensitive seizures must be avoided.
- A mode of operation must be set up that includes functions that facilitate and simplify use for people with cognitive impairments.
- The privacy of users must be protected when using accessibility features.
D. Status of implementation of the requirements of the BFSG
The technical requirements for a service to be accessible within the meaning of the BFSG and the BFSGV are based on the specifications of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1. We have designed our digital service as follows to ensure that it is accessible to all people:
The content of our website can be accessed in various ways, ensuring that our products and services can also be accessed and used by users with physical, sensory or cognitive impairments. The modes of operation we have implemented include:
- Use of alternative text: Images are provided with descriptions so that they can also be read aloud by screen readers for visually impaired users.
- High-contrast colour scheme: Provides better readability for people with visual impairments.
- Structured headings: A logical structure of the content using headings makes it easier to quickly grasp information.
- Simple navigation: Clear and understandable menu navigation supports users with cognitive impairments.
