At the highest level.

A source for the best opera houses and theatres

The Hochschule für Musik und Theater (HMT) “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig was established in 1992 by bringing together Germany’s two oldest universities for music (1843) and theatre (1953).

The HMT teaches almost all subjects of classical and popular music, acting and dramatic theory at the highest international level. The success is reflected by the numerous prestigious prizes and awards. HMT graduates sing and play in famous opera houses, concert halls and theatres around the world.

Supporters and sponsors of the “Freundeskreis” (circle of friends) in particular enable students to study, if support is needed, and arrange for the realisation of important projects, since November 2009 also within the framework of a new foundation to further expand the curricula.
