Wulff Aengevelt: “EXPO REAL 2016: Professional fair with interesting topics!”

The weather mediocre, the mood always good and highly professional. This is one way to sum up the 19th EXPO REAL in Munich, which ended on Thursday, in one sentence.
Global topics were, amongst others, the banking crisis, future economic development and the question which direction the real estate boom will take.
Our company continued the topic it had introduced into the discussion for the first time last year, namely the sustainable accommodation of migrants, in an again overcrowded event regarding the topic “Cost-effective construction for low residential rents”. The associated challenges and opportunities for local councils and investors also were a main topic for the fair as a whole.
This was also true for the discussion of promoting urban development through the creation of new “mixed urban areas”, intended to facilitate a simultaneous use of quarters for residential and commercial purposes, which is necessitated by scarcity-based densification.
Other main topics subject to lively discussion were digitalisation and the implementation of energy efficiency and climate protection in the real estate industry as well as the persistent lack of supply of investment products suitable for the market across all asset classes.
The EXPO REAL continues to be a professional trade fair with a top-level professional audience from the decision-making levels in politics, administration and the real estate industry. The trade fair is seeing the presentation of important and often spectacular projects as well as the preparation or conclusion of a manifold of deals - for example at the booth “State capital Düsseldorf and partners”. At the same time, further internationalisation means that it remains one of the most important meeting points of the industry apart from the MIPIM, which takes place in Cannes in spring.
